The Fleece to Fiber Festival
June 16-17, 2007
Cantigny Park, Wheaton, IL
Join us for this exciting event! Hosted hand in hand with the Cantigny Fine Arts Festival, the Fleece to Fiber Festival focuses on connecting the farm to the fiber art! All day long, plenty of fun activities for family and friends alike will welcome you to the show. In addition to the schedule below, there will be professional artist booths, a hands-on kid’s art display, demonstrations of fiber arts by area guilds, farmers to meet and fibers to feel from the Illinois Green Pastures Fiber Co-Op, and much, much more. Join us… and laugh, linger, learn and be inspired at the Fleece to Fiber Festival!

Wool through the Wars
Cantigy Park is beautiful- and is also a memorial for the men and women who have served in the Armed Forces in the past. Spend some time learning about wool and the role it has played in our Nation’s past and in the present time. Our presentation will commence with a color guard and raising of the flags and a brief presentation about the rich history at Cantigny Park. Afterwards, you will be invited to tour memorabilia from wars of the past and talk with war veterans. Take a moment to honor our past and our Nation!

Americana Gala Event at the Visitor’s Center on the Grounds
Join us for a celebration of Illinois Fiber! Mingle and chat with other fiber enthusiasts while enjoying an hor d’ourves buffet. During the evening, USDA officials and local legislative officials will be welcomed and Illinois Green Pastures Fiber Co-Op Manager will describe the Co-Op and it’s goals. In conclusion, the winners of the Americana Contest will be announced and prizes and honors will be given. Attire is dressy casual. Invitation only

Fiber Arts Panel Presentation
Presented by Fiber Arts magazine and Interweave Press, this panel will discuss fiber art, it’s beginnings, and offer creative suggestions on how you can become involved. Interweave Press, a publication company based out of Loveland, Colorado, will be sponsoring this panel discussion of creative and entrepreneurial minds.

Enter the Americana Contest, sponsored by the Illinois Green Pastures Fiber Co-Op. The deadline for the contest is May 15, 2007 and the rules and entry form can be found here. (PDF, 550 kb)
Want to volunteer?
We are looking for guilds to serve in four hour intervals throughout the show. This is a great promotion for your guild, and for fiber arts! Volunteers for mini workshops and hands-on kids art booths are also welcome. All volunteers will receive an invitation to the Americana Gala Event on Saturday evening as well as refreshments and a free parking pass.
